Pop singer Fereidun Aserai reveals cancer diagnosis
TEHRAN -- Iranian pop singer Fereidun Aserai, 60, who shot to fame with hits “Hello” and “The Stranger” over ten years ago, revealed on Saturday that he has been diagnosed with laryngeal cancer.
His doctor made a radiofrequency ablation (RFA) on his larynx last week and he must spend six months in convalescence, Aserai told the Persian service of Honaronline.
“Thank God, I feel better now,” he said.
“The problem that I could hardly make my voice heard began early in Ramadan … I told my doctor that my pain began after I gave 40 performances in a month; he told me that he suspects that I have cancer of the larynx,” he added.
However, he said that he will perform in Salmanshahr on August 11 and in Tehran on August 12.
He also plans to release a single song titled “Tell that You’re in Love” on August 5 to celebrate his 60th birthday.
